Grow Beyond Books

The Brentwood community loves gardening and nurturing nature, and so do we at the library. Here are some projects we've grown to promote learning about pollinators, plants, and more.

Reading Terrace Gardens

Visit our Terrace Gardens to see our Sensory Garden as well as our Pollinator Garden. The Pollinator Garden was built by Leadership Brentwood Class of 2024, while the Sensory Garden was made by staff in 2022. Both gardens were created to give patrons an interactive opportunity to enjoy nature while learning about local plants and wildlife.

Wildflower Meadow

Look southwest out of the Children's Library during the summer and you'll usually see some beautiful blooms. This meadow is full of native wildflower seeds and is an ongoing project started by staff in 2023 as an extension of the Pollinator Garden. Staff wanted to take an unused field full of invasive grasses and convert it into a thriving environment for native plants and creature.

Seed Catalog

Take some seeds, leave some seeds! Our seed catalog is a free and easy way to grow and diversify your garden with local resources. We provide envelopes for you to label and leave your bounty, or you can do so yourself. Even if you don't have anything to share, feel free to take some home with you.
