You may renew your library card three ways:

  • In person at the Circulation Desk.
  • Over the phone at 615 371-0090and press 2 for Circulation.
  • By completing and submitting the online form below.

Online renewals take a few days to process. If you need your card renewed immediately, please call or visit the Circulation Desk.
Please have your library card handy.
Minor children (anyone 17 and under) must have a parent/legal guardian present to renew a library card.

How to Pay Fines and Fees

In-person

Stop by the Circulation Desk with the Library card, and your preferred payment method: cash, check, or card.
There is a .95 transaction fee to pay with card.

Online

How to pay library charges online

  1. Log into your account using your library card number/username and PIN.  If you don’t remember your PIN, click on the “forgot my password” link and a new password will be sent to your email address on file. 
     
  2. Click on the Fines & Fees link on the left menu bar and select the charges you wish to pay. Select Pay Fines Now! 
     
  3. When directed to the SmartPay page, please note that the “card billing address” field should ONLY be used for the house number and street name.  Do not add apartment numbers, city, or state in that field.  Also, please note that only Visa and Mastercard are currently accepted; no gift cards may be used. 

Notices

Notices may be sent via e-mail or text. 

You set your preferences when you signed up for your library card. 

To make changes to your preferences, sign into your account and under My Record / Contact Information and Preferences, make the desired changes. You may also contact a member of the Circulation staff. 

If you are not receiving notifications, please check the following: 

  • Emails set your spam-blocking software to accept email fromlibrarynotices@brentwood.gov
  • Texts have you recently changed your telephone number or carrier? If so, please either login to your account or contact a member of the Circulation staff.

Item Limits and Renewals

All items, except as listed below, may be borrowed for three (3) weeks with two (2) renewals
provided the item is not on hold for another user. InterLibrary Loan materials and hotspots
may be renewed upon request.

Interlibrary Loan

Didn’t find what you need from our library?

We can borrow books that are not held in our collection from libraries all over the country, see below for instructions and policies. Or, send an email to ill@brentwoodtn.gov or call us at 615-371-0090 Ext. 8200.

Policies

  • There is no lending fee for Interlibrary loans.
  • Books typically arrive within 14 days.
  •  Audiovisual items (DVDs, Audiobooks, Music, etc.) are not available through interlibrary loan.
  •  A total of five interlibrary loan requests per patron may be on-going at any one time.
  •  Items may only be renewed if the lending library allows and there is only one renewal per request.
  •  Failure to pick up an item after initiating a loan will result in a $3 charge. There is a 50¢ per day charge per overdue item and a $50 charge for a lost ILL item.
  • If the book has been published in the last year, you can request a title here.

Advanced Instructions

  • For patrons that would like to browse a national catalog and choose specific items, use instructions below.
  • Go to the Library catalog and click on "Search" then "Advanced" then "Select Databases".
  •  Check "OCLC WorldCat" then click “Set Databases.”
  •  After you find the item your want (you may need to click "Add pending results"), click on “place hold" and we will be notified of your request.
  •  You will be notified according to your account preferences when your item arrives.
